Their collection of completed solid timber buildings outnumbers that of any other UK company, and their in-house expertise spans both design and installation services.
We were appointed to provide a Health, Safety and Environmental Management Gap Analysis by Eurban Limited as a fledgling company that required professional and knowledgeable health and safety consultants who understood the needs of Contractors in the construction industry to create and implement a complete Safety Management System that encompassed everything from the tender process through to design and construction. This was enhanced through mentoring and training on the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
Our initial Gap Analysis provided Eurban Limited with guidance on all policies and procedures required for the business and all documentation essential for undertaking operations in compliance with health and safety legislation including CDM 2015. This included generating a simple, centralised system that ensured compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, and was particularly beneficial for scheduling maintenance tests / inspection records, staff training records, personal protective equipment provision, near miss / incident reporting and risk assessments.
This also ensured documentation was updated regularly, as required, with annual reviews scheduled to ensure compliance was ongoing and that best practice was being achieved across all projects led by senior management. A review was undertaken and the system developed over fifteen years as the company grew from two members of staff to fifty employees with a £10 million turnover.
The ultimate solution was to assist and support Eurban Limited in becoming a leading player in the market by ensuring they were working to the highest health and safety standards and achieving best practice across all of their projects. This was achieved through our development of a co-ordinated health, safety, environment and quality system, which met all legal and ISO standard requirements. Our mentoring and support through the implementation of policies and procedures, as well as our assistance with all aspects relating to CDM 2015 ensuring legislative compliance and best practice has laid the foundations for a safety culture that formed good leadership, good worker involvement and good communications.
Eurban Limited have been able to focus on demonstrating their compliance with CDM 2015 with our centralised suite of documentation that has been developed over the last fifteen years to evolve with the business, creating a Safety Management System that is bespoke to their business operations. This has resulted in a consistent method across all management divisions for approaching the planning, management and construction of projects and has assisted the business to accurately assess recorded information against the same criteria and allow equal and parallel comparisons to be made across all projects over time.
In the long term, our health and safety support has assisted Eurban Limited’s growth as a major player in the solid timber industry, who are renowned for paying ‘particular attention to the Health and Safety of themselves and all other operatives they interact with’ (Martin Fennell, Lend Lease).
